红豆草是豆科,驴豆属多年生草本植物。原产法国,分布在欧洲、非洲北部和亚洲西南部。我校草原系自1960年引进后,经过廿年的栽培,表现良好,确认为是干旱、半干旱地区很有发展前途的优良牧草之一。其主要特点是:一、产草量高,品质好:根据我们试种,在武威黄羊镇灌溉地播种,当年亩产青草4250.0斤,生活的第二年5730.3斤,第三年7333.7斤,第四年7800斤,和紫花苜蓿的产量相近,干旱年份显著地超过紫花苜蓿。红豆草的叶量大,叶重占总重的40—48%。青干比也高,每3.5斤青草就可晒一斤干草,且叶片不易脱落,并易于干燥。红豆草还含有很丰富的
