Permian Khuff Formation is the Middle East’s most important natural gas production. Since the Khuff Formation was explored in the 1970s in the United Arab Emirates, a number of structural traps have been discovered, but drilling tests have been ineffective with dry stratospheric tests on land traps, limited scale of offshore trap test reservoirs and high non-hydrocarbon content , Seriously hampered the next exploration work. The Khuff Formation gas reservoirs have a good reservoir-cap assemblage with gas source coming from the source rocks of the Lower Silurian Qusaiba Formation. Triassic Sudair Group marl and the Khuff Formation gypsum layer are the cap rocks with stable distribution. Based on the regional survey, the comprehensive analysis shows that the spatial and temporal coupling between the development of gas reservoirs and hydrocarbon generation and expulsion is the key factor that affects the effectiveness of Khuff Formation gas reservoirs in northern UAE. Based on a variety of data to establish the pattern of accumulation, it shows that the trap of the Khuff Formation in the UAE waters was affected by salt accumulation since the end of Permian sedimentation, and the structure began to develop. In the later period, the Khuff Formation trapped by the Arcadia, Hercynian and Zagros In the Late Cretaceous, the crude oil was cracked into gas and the trap was effective for hydrocarbon accumulation. However, due to the effect of TSR, the oil- Post-H 2 S and CO 2 and other non-hydrocarbon gas development. The Khuff trap on the land was affected by the Zagros tectonic movement and began to develop during the Oligocene, failing to capture oil and gas effectively.
