栽植一次可采收两熟茭白,称之为双季茭,又称二熟茭。我县自1967年从无锡毛巷地区引进少量中介茭种植,经20年连续单株选择,混合种植,已形成一个新品系。现在所栽的双季茭,茭肉洁白,粗壮柔嫩,纤维少,且早熟性强,采收整齐,产量高。我县地理条件优越,西部地区大小湖荡群集,水面辽阔,水源充沛,水质良好,境内河流纵横,地势低洼,土地肥沃,是典型的江南水乡,适宜于水生蔬菜栽植。近年来,每年栽植双季茭面积在15000亩以上。当年9月上旬始收秋茭,次年6月上旬始收夏
