《民族中心主义与英语词典》一书系统地展示了英语词典作为一种特定历史话语形式深刻融入英语社会史和政治史的后殖民本质,即英语词典在根本上就是民族中心主义产品,是英语国家在后殖民时代更为隐蔽、静水流深地服务其国家利益的语言工具。本文在解读该书学理意义的基础上,结合全球化语境对英语教学及应用语言学研究,特别是我国应用语言学研究及汉语推广问题进行批评性思考。
The book “Ethnocentrism and English Dictionary” shows systematically the English dictionary as a postmortem essence deeply integrated into the social history and political history of English as a specific historical discourse. That is, the English dictionary is essentially an ethnocentric product, which is English Countries in the post-colonial era more hidden, quietly serve the language of their national interests. Based on the interpretation of the book’s theoretical significance, this article combines the context of globalization with critical thinking on English teaching and applied linguistics, especially applied linguistics and Chinese popularization.
