统计通常是指统计工作、统计资料和统计科学。统计工作是指运用一切科学方法,对政治、经济、社会等现象的数量方面的资料,进行搜集、整理和分析工作的总称。统计资料是统计工作所取得的各项数字资料及有关文字资料的总称,它是统计信息的主体。统计科学是如何搜集、整理与分析资料,如何做好统计工作的理论和方法。统计已成为人们认识社会的有力武器,成为国家管理、社会经济管理和科学研究的重要工具。在新世纪,利用现代信息技术实现统计调查、统计分析,提供统计资料,实行统计监督无疑是摆在广大统计工作者面前的一项紧迫而重要的任务。
Statistics generally refer to statistics, statistics and statistical sciences. Statistical work refers to the general term for the collection, collation and analysis of all kinds of information on the number of political, economic and social phenomena by using all scientific methods. Statistical data is the general term for all the digital data and related written materials obtained by statistical work. It is the main body of statistical information. Statistics science is how to collect, organize and analyze data, how to do statistical work theory and methods. Statistics have become a powerful weapon for people to understand society and become an important tool for state administration, socio-economic management and scientific research. In the new century, the use of modern information technology to carry out statistical surveys, statistical analysis, statistical data collection and statistical supervision is undoubtedly an urgent and important task for the masses of statistical workers.
