Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research,中佛罗里达大学的International Journal of Hospitality Management和IJCHM。
This article reviews the progress of academic journals in the field of hotel and service management research. The development and status quo of academic journals is an important indicator to evaluate the development stage of this research field. In terms of the number of Hospitality and Service Management Research academic journals, as of August 2013, there were 84 and 193 related journals, of which 5 journals entered the SSCI index (4 of which have impact factors greater than 1). Both the H5 index and the H5-Median index for academic journals in hospitality and service management show a substantial increase in journal quality. Taking the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (IJCHM) as an example, the impact factor for SSCI in 2010 has reached 1.266 in 2012; the number of papers downloaded by IJCHM ranked third in more than 300 journals in the Emerald database in the past five years; and IJCHM’s Submissions also multiplied, from 200 in 2011 to 280 in 2012, reaching 395 in the first eight months of 2013. The research content in the field of hotel and service management is diversified and involves in many disciplines such as management, accounting, finance, marketing, nutrition, operation and human resources. The research methods have gradually come from qualitative vectorization, from simple to complex. Prior to 1990, the research methods were mainly conceptual analysis or qualitative research. The gradual use of descriptive methods in the 1990s led to the promotion of advanced statistical methods. Research methods and statistical tools have become increasingly complex. With the maturity of subject development, J & J research journals will also enter a new phase of development, and research orientation will pay more and more attention to knowledge innovation. Researchers are bound to surpass the existing research routines and focus more on creating new knowledge, Build a theory and provide a clear practical enlightenment. Research journals carry important academic responsibilities and obligations during this crucial turning point in the progress of research and knowledge creation. Academic journals for hotel and service management research often co-exist with well-known faculties. Such as Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Cornell University, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Pennsylvania State University, International Journal of Hospitality Management and IJCHM, University of Central Florida. Particularly worth mentioning is that in 2012, IJCHM took an important step towards international cooperation and established a strategic cooperation partnership with Sun Yat-sen University School of Management to set up an overseas editorial department. This cooperation not only enriches the team of editors and reviewers, broadens the sources and readership of manuscripts, but also embraces and promotes the thriving tourism and hospitality industries in the Asia Pacific region. It also opens up a new path for the development of international academic journals.
