雷州半岛青年运河是以农业灌溉和城市工业用水为主,结合防洪、发电、航运淡水养殖、旅游等综合利用的大型水利工程,分水库和运河两大部分。青年运河纵贯大半个雷州半岛,滋润着这里贫瘠干旱的土地,彻底改变了雷州滴水贵如油、十年九不收的穷困面貌。
