Two groups of male Wistar rats fed with normal diet and vitamin E deficient diet were intragastrically administrated with 1000mg / kg NTT. Animals were sacrificed 8h and 16h later. Blood was collected to observe the changes of methemoglobin (MetHb), reduced glutathione Changes of peptide (GSH) and hypotonic hemolysis. The results showed that two groups of animals MetHb significantly increased after dyeing, and feed vitamin E content was not significantly related. However, only a significant decrease in erythrocyte GSH and a significant increase in hypotonic hemolysis were observed in the vitamin E deficient group of animals. Administration of vitamin E to this group of animals or injection of desferrioxamine prior to exposure did not reduce the formation of MetHb, but protected rat erythrocytes against TNT, such as the prevention of GSH depletion and hemolysis tendency.
