U.S. Newspapers Decrease in Credibility A recent survey released by the U.S. Media and Public Affairs Center found that Americans rely on the news media but do not necessarily believe the news media. The telephone survey of 3,000 adults shows that 86% still use newspapers as their top news source, but they think only 70% of what they read from newspapers is credible. Only 34% of newspaper readers read nationwide newspapers, such as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Today’s America.
