Professor Peter F. Drake is a management consultant. He is also the authority on the Japanese issue. He has conducted 15 visits to Japan and received an honorary doctorate from the Imperial College in Tokyo as a consultant to the Japanese government and many Japanese companies. He also taught Japanese calligraphy and painting at Parma University in California. He has enjoyed a high reputation in Japan’s corporate world and his work is widely studied and trusted by people. Drake, a seventy-year-old man, had discussions with many Japanese business, government and academics during his recent visit to Japan. After coming into contact with these people, he believed that Japan deserves serious attention: During the 1980s, Japan urgently needed a common view on the formation and direction of its policies.
