The theoretical question of “materialization” or “alienation” is a central topic of contemporary philosophy and a common hot issue of long-term controversy between Eastern and Western scholars. The trigger for such a situation is the publication of Lukacs History and Class Consciousness in 1922 and the publication of the 1844 Economic and Philosophical Manuscript, one of Marx's important works in his youth, ten years later. As the first book systematically addressing the issue of “materialization” or “alienation” in the history of contemporary philosophy, “history and class consciousness” inherit and exert the “alienation” theory of Marx and Hegel, Lukacs, materialization = alienation) for the first time as one of philosophy
