Everybody has the experience of anxiety. Anxiety affects our whole being, our middle—school students included. It affects how we feel, how we behave and has very real physical symptoms.
Anxiety is a kind of complicated feeling without objective causes which are composed of nerve, tension, fear, and worry. Anxiety may cause some restless action like shaking legs, sweating, stomachache, shortness of breath, even followed with insomnia and anorexia. In the fast—placed society, the condition of anxiety is getting more and more serious. So how to overcome it is very crucial.
In China, most high school students have to face much pressure and homework. So, a survey has been done about anxiety among 74 high school students in Chengdu Foreign Language School in Des, 2011.
According to the average percentage, there are 38% of the students suffer from anxiety.
How about other high school students? Another survey comes to a similar conclusion. The survey was carried out among 2,643 students from 12 high schools.
  Researchers have found three results:
  (1) The percentage of prevalence of high school students have depressive symptoms is 42.3%, the degree of depression varies from mild, moderate to severe, also from different ages to different grades.
  (2) The percentage of ordinary high school students have depressive symptoms (44.8%) is higher than that of the key high school students’ (40.4%).
  (3) There is a significant gender difference in the prevalence of high school students depressive symptoms: the prevalence of girls depressive symptoms (45.1%) is higher than that of boys’ (39.5%).
Conclusion: Most of the investigated students have depressive symptoms.
So how to deal with the problem?
  (1) To face pressure can reduce fear and anxiety.
When people stay in the same environment, and have the same level of knowledge, the stress comes from themselves. If a student did a better review, he would get less nervous than the students didn’t do review before they faced the same exam.
  (2) The encouragement from friends and family can also help to reduce stress.
In conclusion, we found that many students are suffering from anxiety. Improving knowledge and asking others for help can reduce it. Generally speaky, find the best way to keep happy, life will be happy and easy instead of anxious.
