The reconstruction of old buildings in Chinese cities, especially the transformation of old industrial buildings, has drawn more and more attention. In the process of rapid urbanization, due to the misconceptions, the drive of interests and the lack of forward-looking government decision-making, the methods of demolition, reconstruction and redevelopment are prevailing. The urban renewal is not organic but the overhaul. The urban fabric is badly damaged. However, some relatively successful cases in some cities with relatively mature countries and regions have provided us with comprehensive thinking, reference and management. This is also the realistic significance of our thinking on this phenomenon from various perspectives. Gooderham & Worts Distillery, Canada’s pre-eminent conservation area, is also the largest and best preserved Victorian industrial complex in North America. Through case study and analysis, I hope that in the future economic development and urban construction in the old industrial buildings to explore the mode of exploration to provide some ideas.
