Chengdu University of Science and Technology Department of Hydraulic Engineering was established in 1954, when the school named Chengdu Institute of Technology. From 1978 to 1980, the school was reorganized into a leader of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 1978, the school name has been changed to Chengdu University of Science and Technology. However, since October 1980, the school has been placed under the leadership of the State Education Commission. In fact, the establishment of the Department of Water Resources dates back to 1944 because the predecessor of Chengdu Institute of Technology was Sichuan University Institute of Technology, and the Department of Civil Engineering and Water Resources was established during the period of Sichuan University of Technology.
