Describes a new field application for an automation control system that injects a hydrogen sulfide scavenger into a natural gas pipeline. The automation system combines the prior art not only with cost savings but also with proven reliability in terms of hydrogen sulfide content to meet contract natural gas sales requirements. The benefits of this automation system are manifold and can be demonstrated by the savings in man-hours, safety and chemical dosage requirements. No need to check the hydrogen sulfide content in tandem and adjust the chemical pump, saving employee time. Because employees do not have to manually check the hydrogen sulfide content, it does not open and release natural gas valves containing hydrogen sulfide to improve safety. The automation system also optimizes the use of chemical scavengers by continuously monitoring the system and keeping the H2S content within the allowable range of natural gas sales. The H2S concentration in the gas gathering system is dynamic and continually changing, with new wells coming into operation. Production wells closed, H2S content of different wells and so on. The automation system automatically adjusts for these changes to achieve the most economical use of H2S chemical scavengers.
