This experiment was conducted between 1984 and 1985 by randomly selecting 38 children with secretory otitis media who did not receive sympathomimetic, antihistamine or mucolytic drugs within 72 days. Pure tone hearing before surgery, under the microscope examination of tympanic membrane, identified as bilateral plastic ear.
