General Secretary Hu Jintao pointed out at the ”Symposium of Representatives of Advanced Grass-roots Party Organizations and Outstanding Communists on Earthquake Relief“ held in 2008 by the Central Government: ”Recalling the history of the party, we can clearly see that 87 years since the founding of the Chinese Communist Party Is an 87-year relentless struggle for the independence, liberation and prosperity of the Chinese nation and for the freedom, democracy and happiness of the Chinese people. It is 87 years in which tremendous changes have taken place in China and the historic progress has been continuously achieved. It is also a generation after generation of Chinese Communists in the revolution , Play a vanguard and exemplary role in the process of construction and reform, unite and lead the people in overcoming various difficulties
