小号的演奏受着用气的制约,任何滑奏、吐音以及吹奏高、低、强、弱音都必须是从用气开始。因此,在所有技术中,掌握正确的用气方法是极为重要的。用气对吹奏员来说,应该如同呼吸、行走那样自然、灵活,使人在外表上感觉不出呼吸的声音和动作。用气科学,吹奏出来的声音是自由、流畅的,绝不是游移不定、吃力的,乃至“嘶嘶”的声音。要做到科学地用气,嘴唇、呼吸以及舌头要同时到位,这样才能吹出一个纯正的声音。倘若这几个基本因素中的任何一个稍有不当,都将导致一个坏的发音。
