国民党在第五次“围剿”期间对苏区实行严密的经济封锁。由于江西不产食盐,对食盐的封锁给苏区造成极大困难,严重影响了苏区军民的生活和健康。中共积极动员群众应对食盐危机,取得了一定的成效。但随着封锁的日益加强和自身“左”倾错误的进一步发展,苏区终未能解决盐荒,粮食、布料和药品等物资也十分缺乏,打破第五次“围剿”的希望更加渺茫。
