英国伦敦大学历史研究中心主任迈尔斯·泰勒(Miles Taylor)教授是著名的英国史学者,主要致力于维多利亚时代英国及帝国史的研究。2010年11月25日至30日,泰勒教授在南京大学讲学期间,作了题为“现代英国形成”的系列讲座,主要论述了1750年至1914年间现代英国的发展历程。讲座涉及工业革命、城市化和英帝国三个方面,并对国际英国史学研究领域长期以来的观点作了修正性重构。
Professor Miles Taylor, director of the Historical Research Center at the University of London, is a famous British historian focusing his research on Victorian British and imperial history. From November 25 to November 30, 2010, Professor Taylor gave a series of lectures titled “The Formation of Modern Britain” during his lecture at Nanjing University. He mainly discussed the development of modern Britain from 1750 to 1914. The lecture covered three aspects of the industrial revolution, urbanization and the British Empire. It also made a revision of the long-standing view of the history of international British history.
