笔者曾见过两盆株龄约在30～40岁的大山影,其茎基呈莲座状,很好看,但在中间都长有高达1.45米、直立的柱状茎,破坏了原有的株形,降低了观赏价值。我养的山影拳也存在这个问题。植株头3年顶端各球状分枝的生长比较均衡有序,但第四年其中一枝出现徒长迹象,随后我相继采用了控肥控水、用镊子拔掉顶端新生毛刺、用矮壮素涂抹顶端等方法,连续3年均无济于事。在无计可施的情况下,我只得把高10厘米左右的徒长枝切掉,留下约4厘米的疤痕,无法弥补,遗憾至今。经过认真分析,我认识到利用整形技术矮化山影拳是无效的,必须另找一个方法,才能既防止徒长,又不会留下人工控制的痕迹。我查阅1987年～
