秦思源把办公室设在了丽都对面那个艺术家常常出没的咖啡厅,但休闲的环境并不意味着工作的轻松,相反,在2009年的上海艺术博览会国际当代艺术展到来之前,摆在秦思源面前的是大量基础工作。对于秦思源来说,策展是他熟悉得不能再熟悉的工作,在英国大使馆文化教育处和尤伦斯当代艺术中心的经历为他提供了足够多的经验。而作为一个策展人,商业和资本有些棘手,却又不可回避,秦思源选择了面对。秦思源给自己和“上海当代”团队提出了一个设问——我们跟中国的直接关系是什么?这个问题未必会在2009年得到解答,但对这个问题的注解,必将决定着“上海当代”的未来之路。
