三月下旬,报社要我用照片去反映一下郊区的抗旱备耕情况。辽阳市入春以来,气候干旱,既沒有下过一場雨,还经常刮大風。郊区各公社社員,为了不誤农时,冒着八级大風抗春旱,整地保墒,頂凌播春麦。这本来是报道备耕的一个很好的主题。可是,起初我很发愁,甚至想借口“摄影报道不是万能的”来推托。因为在刮風、下雨、下雪的場合中我总认为是拍不出好照片的。而当吋,郊区正是經常八级大風滾黃砂,刮得天昏地暗,让人睜不开眼,这怎么能进行摄影报道呢?显然,这时,我所考虑的只是照片形式上的美,而忘记了现实的內容,是一种超现实的唯美主义观点在作祟。
