10月27日,久未露面的韩国现代会长郑梦九与韩国总统卢武铉一同出现在韩国现代综合钢厂的奠基仪式上。卢武铉在贺词中强调:“提高汽车、造船、电子产业等全球性竞争力方面,钢铁事业将起到很大作用。钢铁产业的历史本身就是韩国经济成功神话。”据悉,韩国政府计划以现代制铁综合钢铁厂为龙头,将唐津地区建成钢铁生产基地。该综合钢铁厂整个建设项目计划投资55亿美元,于2011年底完成。这一钢铁厂竣工投产后,年生产能力将达700万吨,将成为韩国第二大综合钢铁厂。这不仅能使得现代制铁公司的钢铁生产能力从目前的世界排名第32位跃升到第十位,而且实现了在韩国国内现代汽车从钢铁到整车的所有部件的生产。
On October 27, the long-awaited Korean modern president, Zheng Mengjiu, and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun appeared at the foundation laying ceremony of the Korean modern integrated steel mill. In his congratulatory message, Roh Moo-hyun emphasized: “The iron and steel industry will play a major role in improving the global competitiveness of the automobile, shipbuilding, and electronics industries. The history of the steel industry itself is a myth of Korean economic success.” It is reported that the Korean government plans to adopt a modern system. Iron integrated iron and steel plant is the leader and builds the steel production base in the Tangjin area. The integrated steel plant plans to invest $5.5 billion in the entire construction project, which will be completed by the end of 2011. After the steel plant is completed and put into operation, the annual production capacity will reach 7 million tons, which will become South Korea’s second largest integrated steel plant. This will not only enable Hyundai Steel’s steel production capacity to leap from the current world’s No. 32 to No. 10, but also realize the production of Hyundai Motor’s steel-to-vehicle components in Korea.
