蒙古族传统装饰纹样与犄角密切相关,对称弯曲的犄角充满健壮活力的生命之美,因此蒙古族对动物的犄角充满无限的赞美之情。蒙古语将装饰纹样统称为“贺乌嘎拉吉”。蒙古族普遍认为对称弯曲的犄角最美,所以将类似盘羊角样的卷曲纹样概括为装饰纹样。蒙古族的装饰纹样以对称卷曲纹样造型为主,这种对犄角与类似犄角曲线的特殊喜好,体现了浓郁的草原游牧文化气息,同时折射出草原民族独特的审美情趣和审美观念。
