AA's democratization is reflected in the entire operation of the teaching system and school. The ABU is independent of the government's university education system, but its academic and vocational credentials are fully recognized by the government. The cause of this alliance was democratic: a coalition of young, up-and-coming young architects in London was launched in 1847 to provide the opportunity to discuss and form a research studio. There was no formal architectural education in England until then, and the alliance founded its first complete education program in 1890.
