The microparticle detection methods specified in the British Pharmacopoeia (1973 edition) and the United States Pharmacopeia (19th edition) in large transfusions only focus on the number and size of the microparticles, ignoring the chemical composition and spatial configuration. The authors studied a new technique that can be used to assess the physicochemical composition of microparticles and to help detect the origin of microparticles and the clinical risks that may arise. Particles in the injection were collected using a filter membrane with a pore size of 0.2 microns and directly measured by scanning electron microscopy. take
