In recent years, a new hypothesis on the mechanism of toxicity of carbon disulfide (CS 2) has been proposed. The authors have pointed out that in the process of chronic poisoning, CS2 toxicity is one of the main factors V_ (B6) lack. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exposure to CS_2 on the V_ (B_6) content and the V_ (B_6) metabolic response in tissues. The assessment of the effect on CS_2 is based on the determination of the pyridoxal phosphate content in the tissue; the enzyme activity dependent on the V_ (B6) assay and the biochemical test to demonstrate the absence of pyridoxine (Cyanocysteine loading test and urinary 4- Determination of pyridoxine). Subjects were consecutively exposed to CS 21 to 2.5 days (acute exposure) or to chronic exposure to chronic (slow intermittent exposure). These animals were fed with different levels of V_ (B6).
