Objective To study the relationship between acute episode of chronic hepatitis B and serum HBVDNA content. Methods AmpliSensor quantitative method was used to determine the changes of serum HBVDNA levels in a group of spontaneous recurrent chronic hepatitis B patients before, during and after the onset of seizures. Results ① The peak value of serum HBVDNA was found in 9 of 11 patients (82%) before the maximum hepatic lesion or at the same time with alanine aminotransferase (ALT). While the remaining two cases peaked in the recovery period; ② Determination of 2 cases of several episodes of chronic hepatitis B in patients with serum HBVDNA, also shows the above characteristics. And showed the characteristics of alternating acute liver damage and normal liver function. In another case of acute hepatitis cirrhosis multiple acute attacks, showed sustained high levels of viremia. Conclusions The change of serum HBVDNA content is closely related to the acute attack of most chronic hepatitis B, suggesting that the replication of hepatitis B virus initiates and stimulates the body’s immune response, leading to the damage of hepatocytes.
