清末绅士在近代文化教育体制兴起的同时,适应时代的发展,以各种方式进入新式教育领域,如进入新式学堂接受进一步教育,创办新式学堂和各种报刊,有条件的绅士甚至还跨出国门,留学海外,寻求新知。清末绅士的这一系列活动呈现出他们向近代知识分子转化的过程,为中国近代教育的发展和近代社会的变迁作出了不可磨灭的贡献。
