I have pointed out that the internal violence of self-rejection or slaughter within and between ethnic groups and the negative writing that has been diverted to silence by silence are the main motives for non-realistic writing in Taiwan’s literary history. The issue of ethnic conflicts lies in the contradictory boundaries of cultural identity . The pleasure of identification needs to be based on a clearly defined distinction between the boundaries, while at the same time there is an exclusive violence. Writing and art show the repeated setting and spanning of cultural activities in this frontier. Through artistic imagination, the other of the cultural figure emerges in a visual space where
