目前,情报的存贮和提供要求采用现代化技术设备和方法,特别是采用电子计算机,以保证快速处理大量的情报。要建立统一的自动化科学情报系统,不进行长期的、多方面的理论和实践研究,不考虑分类法理论和实践的成就,是不可取的。自动化检索绝不应降低现行情报服务工具的作用,这些工具包括以传统图书馆分类法为基础的分类目录和卡片,题录和期刊索引、主题目录等。为了满足今天的要求,这些工具正在沿着情报检索要求的轨道发展。
Currently, the storage and provision of intelligence require the use of modern technical equipment and methods, especially the use of electronic computers, to ensure the rapid processing of large amounts of intelligence. It is not advisable to establish a unified system of automated scientific intelligence without conducting long-term and multi-faceted theoretical and practical research without considering the achievements of taxonomy theory and practice. Automated retrieval should in no way diminish the role of existing intelligence services tools such as taxonomies and cards based on traditional library taxonomies, indexed titles and periodicals, subject directories, etc. In order to meet today's demands, these tools are evolving along the track of intelligence search requirements.
