汉字简化是顺应世界潮流三月中旬,澳门召开第六届世界华文作家协会大会。会上论及中华文化前景,有作家发出简体字回归繁体的呼吁。避免涉及政治敏感,大会秘书长及时喊停,但私下的讨论仍很热烈。一位大陆学者与部分作家唱和,也主张恢复繁体字,给我留下深刻印象。会后返回台湾,几次接到网络传书,要求连署反对《联合国于2008年停用繁体字的决定》,据称是某大陆学者在一项学术会议上透漏的。我不禁疑惑,这是独钟繁体字的人有意操作,以求里应外合之效吗?幸好很快就证实,这是网络误传(或者捏造),与联合国风马牛不相及。然而他引发的繁简议论却在台湾延烧开来,由网络扩展到平面媒体,并触及台湾的现实面,也
Simplified Chinese is Conforms to the World Trend In mid-March, the 6th World Chinese Writers Association Convention was held in Macau. The meeting discussed the prospects of Chinese culture, and some writers sent simplified Chinese characters back to the traditional appeal. Avoid political sensitivities, the general secretary of the General Assembly called for a stop in time, but private discussions are still warm. A mainland scholar and some writers and singers also advocated the restoration of traditional Chinese characters and left a deep impression on me. After the meeting, he returned to Taiwan and received several online book circulars, demanding that he oppose the “United Nations decision to suspend the use of traditional Chinese characters in 2008” allegedly by a mainland scholar at an academic conference. I can not help but wonder if this is a deliberate operation by a person who is a traditional Chinese character seeking to co-operate with the United States. Fortunately, it soon proved that this is a misrepresentation (or falsification) on the Internet and is irrelevant to the United Nations. However, the rhetorical and epistemological episodes that he sparked have been spreading in Taiwan, expanding from the Internet to print media and touching the reality of Taiwan.
