岁末年初,在美巡赛新旧赛季的空档,都会举办一些主题多样、别开生面的非正式比赛。美国人最爱标新立异,他们把这段时间叫做“傻瓜球季”(Silly Season)。不过,“傻瓜球季”并不缺少精彩的比赛,这其中有为期两天,在每个感恩节(每年11月第四个星期四)周末举办的逐洞赛、以家族荣誉和父子亲情为基调的“父子挑战赛”、网罗当年“四大赛”冠军得主的PGA大满贯赛等等。这些群星璀璨的高球赛事往往采取特别的比赛方式,加之没有在正式比赛中的排名和夺分压力,因此比赛的观赏性极强,深受广大球迷的喜爱。
