意象作为一种文化符号在文学作品中广泛存在。毛泽东诗词中大量使用意象来传达诗人的思想和精神。如何将这些富有深刻文化内涵的意象传达给目的语读者,有三种翻译方法:保留原文意象、替换原文意象以及省略原文意象。本文以《毛泽东诗词》为例,分析其中某些意象的翻译,认为在翻译过程中要充分考虑到目的语读者的接受与理解能力,这样才能更好地翻译意象。
Image as a cultural symbol exists widely in literary works. Mao Zedong ’s poems make extensive use of images to convey the poet’ s thought and spirit. There are three translation methods to convey these images with profound cultural connotation to the target language readers: preserving the original image, replacing the original image and omitting the original image. Taking Mao Zedong ’s poetry as an example, this paper analyzes the translation of some of the images, and thinks that the translator should give full consideration to the ability of the reader of the target language to accept and understand so as to translate the image better.
