1931年1月17日,由于叛徒的告密,国民党上海市公安局与公共租界工部局联合进行大搜捕。连日来在三马路东方旅社、天津路中山旅社等中共的秘密据点,先后逮捕了参加中共会议的31名干部。柔石、李伟森、殷夫、冯铿、胡也频(称为左联“五烈士”)与李云卿、苏铁、刘后春等8人17日下午在东方旅社31号房间首先被捕。19日上午,公共租界的法院开了一次走过场的庭,就把他们“引渡”到市公安局。公安局又分别对他们进行了拍照与审讯。
January 17, 1931, as a result of the traitor’s telling, the KMT Shanghai Public Security Bureau and the Public Works Bureau jointly conducted a large search. In the last few days, three cadres, including Dongfang Hutuan Hotel and Tianjin Zhongshan Hotel, have been detained by secret communists and arrested 31 cadres attending the meeting. Roussan, Li Weisen, Yin Fu, Feng Keng, Hu Yezheng (known as the Left Federation and the “Five Martyrs”) and Li Yunqing, Cycas and Liu Houchun were all arrested on the afternoon of the 17th at Room 31, Oriental Hotel. On the morning of the 19th, the courts of the International Settlement opened a court that went through the scene and put them “extradited” to the Municipal Public Security Bureau. Public Security Bureau and they were photographed and interrogated separately.
