In 2004, a total of 19.81 billion fish (including shrimp and shellfish) were released nationwide. Only a total of about 150 million yuan was invested in fisheries proliferation and discharge, a substantial increase over previous years. Among them, the number of releasing offshore waters was 6.29 billion and the investment of releasing funds was 59.95 million yuan; that of inland basins was about 13.52 billion and that of releasing funds was 910.7 million yuan.
