The first published work of the American black woman writer Gwent Dorin Brooks’s long poem, “Sardinia-Lager Day Smith’s Sunday” in the One Street in the Brancove of Xavier, focuses on Smith, an ordinary black man Anti-heroic image of her daily life in the margins of American society, reflects the anti-heroic features in Brooks’s poetry similar to that of TS Eliot’s character Alfred Prufrock. Anti-heroic characters and themes not only perfectly match the distinctive features of American modernist late poetry, but also reveal the writer’s strong sense of black writing.
