从上个世纪初,毛笔书法经过了20多年的发展,不仅取得了长足的进展,而且也基本奠定了其完善的规范性要素——在社会中的认知地位和发展规模,这不得不说是“展览”这种现代社会的作品公开方式“功”在其中。硬笔书法也是从上个世纪初开始萌芽,在最初的十余年间其发展迅猛程度、规模、热度、全民参与程度甚至远远超过了当时同步的毛笔书法活动。据当时统计,八十年代中后期的一个年度,全国各类冠以“全国”的硬笔书法展览比赛活动就有500个之多,那么每天就有一个半展赛。历史向前走了二十年,现在呢?毛笔书法现在已经有了一整套非常规范的展览周期、展览模式和运作方法。仅仅以中国书法家协会为标准,每年官方主办的展览就多达十几个。对于从事毛笔书法的作者而言,目前的展览密度和展览参与难度已经让书法家们有些招架不了,因为从事毛笔书法创作的队伍太庞大,客观上讲随着当代书法的向前发展,
