在湖北省荆沙市新闻界,黄道强的勤奋和高产是出了名的。仅1995年,他便在人民日报、经济日报、工人日报等80多家报刊发表各类新闻作品128篇,不少文章被转载。为此,他被市委宣传部评为对外报道先进个人。 年近不惑的黄道强在荆沙晚报城市周刊部工作,他推崇老一辈记者的话:“应把新闻当事业,不要把记者当职业。”正是这种强烈的敬业精神,使他整天都处于一种“临战”状态,处处留心捕捉新闻线索。1995年5月30日下午刚上班,黄道强听说孔繁森的妻子王庆芝大姐乘船将途经荆沙,但具体坐的什么船,在什么时间什么码头靠岸却一概不知。不管三七二十一,黄道强当即乘车赶到江边。经过三个多小时的苦苦寻觅,终于在刚靠岸的“长江公主号”旅游船上找到王庆芝。
