香果树为我国的二类保护树种,其花芽为混合芽着生于春梢上部,当年分化,当年开花。在浙江临安4月中旬到5月底为花序分化期,6月上旬至7月中旬为小花各花器分化期,7月中旬至8月上旬为大小孢子分化发育期,8月上中旬开花。从开始分化到开花历时4个月左右。在同一花序上主、侧轴顶花先分化,下部侧生花后分化,属向心式分化,花序为圆锥状聚伞花序。
