《懒寻旧梦录》的部分章节经阿部幸夫先生翻译,即将由东方书店出版,去秋译者来京,要我写一篇序言,向日本读者讲几句话。青年时期我在日本呆过七年,垂暮之年又担当过中日友好协会的工作,要讲的话很多,但往事如烟,真有不知从何说起之感。我出生于十九世纪的最后一年,今年八十七岁,这一段时期对中国、对日本,乃至对整个世界,都是一个五洲震荡、四海翻腾的年代。
Some sections of “Lazy Old Dreams,” translated by Mr. Abe, are about to be published by Oriental Bookstore and come to Beijing in the autumn, asking me to write a preface and say a few words to Japanese readers. During my youth, I spent seven years in Japan and worked as a China-Japan friendship association in my twilight year. I have to say a lot, but I do not know where I feel about it. I was born in the last year of the 19th century and was 87 years old this time. It is an era of turmoil and universal turmoil in both continents to China, to Japan and even to the entire world.
