英汉互译是许多语言活动中的一种,它是用一种语言形式(中文或英文)把另一种语言形式里的内容(英文或中文)重新表现出来的语言实践活动。英汉互译的标准之一是“意义相符,功能相似”。所谓意义相符,指的是指称意义、言内意义和语用意义三方面相符。而其中语用意义指的是在语言在特定的的使用环境中所表现出来的特定的、引申的、临时的、隐含的意义,也就是说,语用意义是是词语在实际运用中所蕴含的意义。想做到正确把握语言的语用意义,则需要探究与之相关的文化特别是所涉及到交际原则,更不离开具体的交际语境。翻译时要从文化色彩、语体色彩、感情色彩等方面去考虑。而本文就将从这三方面来探讨一下汉英互译中语用意义的翻译。
