Although there are many effective antihypertensive drugs nowadays, some patients still do not respond to the most commonly used doses and various combinations. Captopril, an orally active drug that blocks the conversion of inactive angiotensin I to the active polypeptide angiotensin II, opens up a new avenue for the treatment of hypertension. Captopril used to control refractory hypertension, in order to prevent the compensatory increase of angiotensin II and aldosterone, and should be combined with diuretics. This article reports the efficacy of a combination of captopril and diuretics in 11 resistant hypertensive patients
