苏轼《赠写真何充秀才》一诗中,有:“君不见潞州别驾眼如电,左手挂弓横捻箭”两句。潞州别驾是唐玄宗做临淄郡王时兼任过的官职。唐玄宗一目斜视,画师画他“横捻箭”瞄射,是为了掩饰他这个缺陷。这使我想起了另一个画像的故事:相传有个国王,瞎了一只眼,跛了一条腿。他召集全国有名的画师为他画像,要求一要画得美,二要画得真。有的画得美而不真,他说那些画师丧失了艺术良心,欺骗了人,将他们杀害了;有的画得真而不美,他又说那些画师丑化了他,也把他们杀害了。后来,有个画师要国王一只脚跪在地上瞄准射箭,并且迅速地画出了这一造型,终于达
