The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman. Unlike most of the Strait, the Strait of Hormuz connects a semi-enclosed sea (Persian Gulf) and an open sea (Indian Ocean), so it can be seen as a passage from closed to open. Historically, the Strait of Hormuz was more than just a maritime access, but a business center itself formed by the circulation of the surrounding commodities. Understanding the overall history of the Strait of Hormuz must be based on a historical understanding of the neighboring Gulf region. This article assumes that only when the Strait is in a stable state of military control will the political and economic development in the surrounding areas have room for prosperity and development. The article discusses the importance of the Straits and other Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean regions, the exchange of merchandise, the movement of merchants and the modern transformation of its strategy and business position.
