19世纪美国作家爱伦·坡是一位独特的作家。他生不逢时,但是在当代批评语境下,却受到了多种理论话语的青睐。造成坡小说文本众说纷纭的一个重要原因,即是坡小说的叙事修辞。“言此意彼”的叙事方式在坡的小说创作中表现出两种修辞变体:寓意与反讽。前者关注表层意义背后的深层意义,而后者关注的却是叙事者的表述态度。反讽修辞又使爱伦·坡的小说叙事增加了幽默和喜剧的色彩。
Alen Poe, a 19th-century American writer, is a unique writer. He was born in disgrace, but in the context of contemporary criticism, he was favored by many theoretical discourses. One of the main reasons for the controversy about the poetic texts in poetic style is the narrative rhetoric in poetic novels. The Narrative Way of “Saying the Same Meaning” Shows Two Rhetoric Variants in Po ’s Novel Creation: Allegory and Irony. The former pays close attention to the deep meaning behind the superficial meaning while the latter focuses on the narrator’s attitude. Ironical rhetoric in turn makes Ellen Poe’s novels narratives more humorous and comedy.
