由于东西方文化存在差异,因此东西方文学中的寻找母题上升为主题后也表现出不同的价值取向:东方文学侧重对回归与寻根式的寻找,西方文学侧重对开拓与激进式的追求。美国华裔作家任璧莲的《典型的美国佬》关于寻找的描写同时体现了这两种价值取向:既探讨了张家人寻找精神家园的慰藉,又探讨了张家人开拓生存空间的艰辛,并最终肯定了精神家园对华裔美国人的重要性。
Due to the differences between eastern and western cultures, oriental and western literature also shows different values in the search for motifs: oriental literature focuses on the search for regression and root-seeking, while western literature focuses on pioneering and radical pursuits.
