木姜子为樟科木姜子属落叶或常绿灌木或小乔木,适应性强,生长迅速,收益快,经济价值高。木姜籽油含70～80％的柠檬醛,是制造香精的主要原料,还可提取甲种维生素,不仅国内需用量大,也是重要的出口物资。此外,粮食部门和农村群众利用木姜籽油防霉去毒,贮藏保管粮食效果甚佳。为此,通过调查,摸清全县木姜树种资源,分析研究其主要经济性状及适宜采收季节,对加速发展木姜子生产提供一定科学依据,是很有必要的。
