As China’s overall national strength continues to grow, its international status has steadily increased and international contacts have become more frequent. The existing offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are no longer able to meet the requirements for use. For this reason, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building Preparatory Office specially invited seven prestigious domestic architectural design units to participate in the new office building competition in the second half of 1991.
